UPDATED: 500+ Powerless in Babylon and West Babylon

A strong line of early morning thunderstorms knocked out power to over 500 homes in the area.

Update (11:20am): LIPA estimates have dropped to just above 300 total for Babylon/West Babylon. ETA for power restoration is 2:30pm.

A strong line of thunderstorms earlier this morning knocked out power to over 500 homes in Babylon and West Babylon.

LIPA is reporting over 400 homes out in the area, including 489 homes without electricity in West Babylon and 30 homes in Babylon Village. LIPA's Storm Center outage website does not list a single estimated time for restoration of power as of 11:00am.

The line of thunderstorms pushed through starting around 8:15am, unleashing heavy rains and a spectacular amount of lightning throughout the area. The storm pushed through completely by 9:45am; power was reported out around the same time.

The line of thunderstorms that passed throughout Long Island knocked out power to over 10,000 customers as of 10:45am.

The power outage is the Babylon area's third in about three weeks.
