Babylon Woman Allegedly Attacked by Dog

A Babylon woman wants a dog removed from her neighborhood after she says it attack her while jogging.

A Babylon Village woman said she was attacked by a pit bull last week and is attempting to have the dog taken out of her neighborhood.

News 12 Long Island reports Yvonne Fleming, a Babylon resident, told a reporter she was speed walking along Meade Avenue, in the Fred Shores area of the village, at about 5 a.m. last Monday morning when a pit bull mauled her.

Fleming, who was noticibly wounded in a video report shown on the news channel, was injured on bite wounds on her face, neck and arm. Fleming said she was hospitalized for three days following the incident.

"It was pretty terrifying seeing him coming at me," Fleming said to News 12.

According to Fleming, the dog's owner called for the dog but left Fleming in the street bleeding. Another neighbor reportedly heard her screams and called 911.

Fleming said she filed a dangerous dog complaint and is headed to court Wednesday to see about having the pet removed from the neighborhood. The Town of Babylon, however, reportedly told News 12 no other complaints about the dog .

Suffolk County Police told News 12 the pit bull's owner denied the dog was involved in the incident.

"I just worry about anybody's children," she said.
