Weekend Planner: High School Football, Concerts

A fun-filled weekend full of the return of high school football, concerts and sightseeing tours.

Patch Forecast – Heat returns in a big way around The Town of Babylon for the first half of the weekend. High temperatures are expected to be in the mid-to-upper 80s° on Friday and Saturday with partly cloudy conditions. Sunday might provide some relief with a very slight chance for rain showers and a high of only 78°.

Friday

High School Football returns with pre-season scrimmage games across our area. Babylon High School's Panthers to face next-door neighbor West Babylon High School in a game at 8:00 a.m. North Babylon High School will invite Sachem North to play at home at the same time. Deer Park High School will head out east to face Bellport in a 8:00 a.m. game.

Babylon Village will host another concert at the Gazebo across from Argyle Lake Park at 8:00 p.m. – Edward deCorsia and New York's Most Dangerous Big Band will take the stage and entertain all for free.

Saturday

The Town of Babylon will host its own  starting at 8:00 a.m. in Copiague. Raffles will be held every week to win a free bag of veggies and no purchase is required to enter. Come down and support your local farms!

Missed that market? No problem. The Tanger Outlets at The Arches will also be hosting a Farmer's Market starting at 11:00 a.m.  Over 20 vendors will be on hand at suite 525 near Starbucks!

Sign up for dance lessons this fall at Positions Dance Studio with no registration fee from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.!

The Tanger Outlets at The Arches will also conclude the Summer Concert Series with its last free concert at 6:00 p.m. Karmin, a pop-rock duo, will take the stage for a big set!

Sunday

Babylon Village will play host to its weekly  on the north side of the LIRR Parking Lot. The market officially opens at 8:00 a.m. and features a wide variety of organic vegetables, fresh milk, brewers and much more!

Get out and see Long Island from the Great South Bay –  will be departing from Captree State Park on the Delta Lady Paddlewheel Boat starting at 1:00 p.m. $15.00 per person gets you an hour and a half long trip.

 

The Deer Park Community Center will host  for ages 13 and up for free at 6:00 p.m.! Call the community center ahead, wear some light clothing and register to learn how to defend yourself using martial arts.
