West Babylon Bank Robbed

A man in his late 20s robbed the Suffolk County Federal Credit Union in West Babylon around 2:30pm.

Suffolk County Police are on the search for a thief after a robbery at the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Bank branch in West Babylon this past afternoon.

A man entered the bank at around 2:30pm and handed a teller a note announcing a robbery and demanding cash, according to Suffolk County detectives. The teller followed his demands and gave the man cash from the drawer.

After taking the money, the man fled on foot and headed south through the parking lot from the bank located at 50-108 Route 109. Police did not say how much money the robber was able to get away with.

The robber is described as a white man in his late 20s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build, brown hair, blue eyes and was unshaven. He was wearing a white tank top, dark-colored shorts, dark-colored sneakers, white socks and a black baseball cap with a New York Yankees logo on the front. 

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
