Babylon United Methodist Nursery School Blocks Out Hunger
BABYLON, NY (March 18, 2014) – Last week, the Babylon United Methodist Church Nursery School held its third annual Block Out Hunger Day to raise the children’s awareness of the needs of others in our community. Each child brought in a box of cereal to help build gigantic tower of cereal which was later donated to the United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
“Block Out Hunger Day begins our unit on Communities,” said administrator Lisa Murray. “The children are learning the importance of being part of a community, how their actions affect those around them and how we all can be ‘community helpers’. They are very connected to helping others and this part of Block Out Hunger Day demonstrates the “domino effect” in a very special way.”
The school, now in its 43rd year, serves 152 families. The school offers programs for 2 ½, 3 and 4 year olds in age-appropriate learning settings.
