Bellone Meets With Fire Chiefs to Discuss Safety Issues

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone discussed  fire and emergency safety issues, including PulsePoint and Smart911 at a meeting Friday of the Suffolk Fire Chiefs Council.

“The volunteers who serve as firefighters and emergency medical personnel provide our residents with unmatched levels of safety,” Bellone said. “We will continue to support the departments as they continue to expand their ability to handle whatever hazards come their way.”

Suffolk County recently initiated PulsePoint, the first municipal phone application on the East Coast that empowers CPR-trained residents to provide life-saving assistance to those in cardiac arrest. Smart911allows residents to create a safety profile for their household that includes any information they want emergency responders to have in the event of an emergency.

Chiefs representing departments from around the county participated in the meeting.
