5 Things to Know: August 8th

Humidity will start building in today, but don't let that stop you from heading around the Village.

1. Patch Forecast: Babylon Village and the rest of Long Island will see the return of the dreaded humidity, which will stick with us for the rest of the week (literally) until a storm this weekend clears us out. Forecasts are calling for fog before 9:00 a.m., before turning partly sunny with a high near 83°.

2. Learn to stretch and mold your body into shape with Zumba at Celebrations in West Babylon. Instructor Krissy will be teaching zumba mixed with some dance fitness in a workout that's fun for all ages. The program begins at 10:00 a.m. at 344 Little East Neck Road in West Babylon and costs $5.00.

3. Head off to West Babylon Public Library for  at 1:00 p.m. Join others in games of Scrabble or Mah Jong or start a different game. Sign up at the Circulation Desk. All players and walk-ins are welcome.

4. What better way to cool down than a day at the Babylon Village Pool? It gets even cooler with  starting at 2:30 p.m. A children's librarian will be on hand to read several tales to children at the bay-side facility.

5. The Suffolk County Department of Health Services will be conducting aerial spraying of pesticides against West Nile Virus over West Babylon and Babylon Village tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. We will have a reminder later today, but check out for more information.
