5 Things to Know: September 18th

The sunny weather ends with a bang – a big storm has Long Island in its sights this Tuesday.

1. Patch Forecast – And the nice weather is gone just like that. Put away the shorts and get out the umbrella and rain coats – it's going to be pouring buckets throughout the day as two storms converge overhead and wreak havoc all over the tri-state area. Babylon Village will see a high of 77°, but winds and clouds might lower it further.

2. Just a friendly reminder that all schools are closed today for the holiday of Rosh Hashanah. Happy New Year to all of our Jewish readers!

3. The Town of Babylon will be hosting a Town Board Meeting at Babylon Town Hall in North Lindenhurst at 3:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

4. The West Babylon Public Library invites you to join this free 6-session smoking cessation workshop given by the Suffolk County Department of Health starting at 6 p.m. There will be a reunion on October 30. All are welcome.

5. It's Open Mic Night at The Bean in the village. Sip away on some great coffee and listen to local artists play their tunes, read poetry or perform comedy acts or bring your own guitar and rock out with the crowd. The event is, as always, free for all starting at 7:30 p.m.
