A Better, Thinner, Richer and Happier 2011

Babylon residents and shop owners share their resolutions for the new year.

2011 will be a richer, happier and healthier year, if Babylon residents have any say in it, that is.

It will also be one of spending more time with friends and family.

With the economic difficulties of the past year, it's not surprising that this year's New Year's resolutions have to do with making, saving, or spending less money.

And of course, the all-time favorite resolution, to lose weight, shows no signs of declining popularity.  After the overindulgence of the holiday eating season, Babylon area gyms typically see an influx of new members and old members who reappear in early January.  As many gym-goers can attest, the crowds do eventually thin out.

An oft-quoted statistic holds that 40% of Americans make at least one resolution for the coming year each December 31st or January 1st.  The percentage of people still keeping their promises months later is anyone's guess.
