A record-cold temperature and a dangerous wind chill left Argyle Lake Park deserted on Tuesday morning.

At 9 a.m., the temperature fell to 5 degrees, with a wind chill of -17. That's right, -17.

As for the iconic lake in the middle of the village: It's frozen, and is expected to remain that way for the next few days, as temperatures aren't expected to climb above freezing until Thursday.

50 years ago, we were skating and playing hockey on Argyle Lake all the time - not staying home as suggested in this article.
