Babylon Teen Recaps the Sandy Year in Fred Shores

The devastation, recovery and rebuilding efforts of Sandy as seen through a Babylon teen's camera lens.

Photographs, videos and stories from Hurricane Sandy are numerous, but few have been told by those who felt the storm on a completely different level – the children and teenagers in the flooded areas.

Babylon Village teen Caity Donnelly used her camera to document the storm's impact on her community – Fred Shores, one of the hardest hit areas in Babylon and on Long Island.

Donnelly describes how her family moved what they deemed necessary to be saved before the storm hit and put themselves up in a hotel for a week, expecting to be back no later than that. Their stay, according to the 14 year old Babylon resident, turned into a journey that still sees the teen not yet home.

"I hope to be coming home Spring 2014," she writes in the video as Skylar Grey's "I'm Coming Home" plays in the video.

Check out the video above, showing the damage from Sandy, the recovery and rebuilding efforts in Babylon Village.

Great job, Caity! We hope you're home sooner rather than later!
