Babylon Village Weekend Planner

We've got a list of events happening around the area this weekend.

The NYPD Finest Football Team is playing a game in Lindenhurst on Saturday in memory of Joe Pritchard, the NYPD officer from North Babylon who lost his life in a March 25 crash on the Long Island Expressway. The team, on which Pritchard played, plays the Long Island Panthers at the Lindenhurst Middle School Field. The game starts at 6:30 p.m., and admission is free, but donations are encouraged as they'll go toward a scholarship fund that's being started.

Swirls and Twirls is celebrating the grand opening of their new West Babylon location by giving away free yogurt to members of the community on Saturday. Stop by and try them out.

Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Babylon ia hosting a BBQ and information session for Hurricane Sandy Victims at Fred Shores on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Representatives from FEMA will be on hand to help handle claims and answer questions, as well as the Dorothy Maples Long Island Recovery Center, AmeriCorps Volunteer Services, Lou Suarez  from the Town of Babylon, the Family Service League, Island Harvest and Project Hope. Local Girl Scouts groups will be going door-to-door delivering boxes of supplies.
