Get out the rain gear - Long Island is in for a wet one.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a large storm packed with lots of rain and winds to hit our area from Tuesday through Wednesday morning.
Two storm fronts - one coming the from the east and another from the south - will converge over the Northeast and create one gigantic headache for commuters.
"Heavy rainfall with isolation flash flooding [and] local severe storms" could be expected, according to an outlook from the NWC. "The time of greatest impact looks to be from late afternoon Tuesday into the early morning hours Wednesday."
The National Weather Service said the storm could produce rainfall totals up to three inches and cause minor flooding along coastal areas.
A wind advisory is in effect due to the forecast of sustained winds of 20 to 25 miles per hour with gusts as high as 55 on Tuesday evening.
Minor coastal flooding and scattered power outages were also expected to be accompanying the storm, according to the outlook.
