Village Lights Up Christmas Tree to Ring in the Holidays

Christmas got an official local start in Babylon Village on Sunday afternoon as the Argyle Park tree was lit up for the first time during the holidays.

Village Mayor Ralph Scordino had the honors again of throwing the switch to power up the hundreds of beautiful lights adorning the large evergreen in the southeast corner of the park between Main Street and the park's parking lot.

School District Bond Proposal Passes By Slim Margin

The Babylon School District bond proposal for a capital project to help repair the three schools has passed – by the slimmest of margins.

Voters approved the $26.6 million bond by a final vote count of 581 "yes" to 576 "no."

Sakura Returning to Babylon After Village Approval

A Babylon Village favorite is returning home a few months after being forced to close their doors – Sakura will be opening a new restaurant only feet away from their former location.

Sakura, a popular Japanese restaurant and sushi hotspot, wasclosed in early July when their lease was reportedly ended with a new building owner. Next door neighboring restaurant Nocturne was also closed for the same reason.

New Madame Butterfly Cafe Given OK by Village Board

Cupcakes away! Madame Butterfly Cakes will be picking up and moving out of their Fire Island Avenue storefront to a larger shop further south near the docks at the end of the road next year.

The Babylon Village Board unanimously approved the business' planned move to 450 Fire Island Avenue, next to Fire Island Shave Ice.

Thrifty Paradise Opens in Babylon Village

Another day, another new storefront for Babylon Village to enjoy – Thrifty Paradise joined the fray earlier this month.

The new thrift store, located at 239 Deer Park Avenue next to Femina Beauty Salon, reportedly opened last week, giving the area another thrift option.
