Charge Up Your Phone at Plesser's

Local electronics and appliance dealer powering up with generator.

With over 40 hours since a hurricane force gust was felt around Babylon and probably longer since most in the dark have had power, Plesser's is offering up the opportunity to give your cell phone a full, free charge at the storefront in the village today.

The appliance store is running on basics on East Main Street at the moment and has ran a wire from its generator to its trademark dog statue outfront with a power strip and a sign reading simply, "Cell Phone Charge."

"No power I can see of at all," owner Alan Howard wrote to Patch. "Village is doing an amazing job at patrolling the business district."

Howard also told Patch he plans to get one of the store's many refridgerators up and running by tomorrow and said anyone who needs to keep their medicines cold were more than welcome to swing by and use it.

The Town of Babylon is also running a free cell phone charging station in North Babylon at the Town Hall Annex.

As your wonderfully proud mother in South Florida aghast at the devastatation to such beautiful communities along the South shore of Long Island. Plessers takes such good care of their neighbors again! Alan and Marc Howard should run for Co Mayors of Babylon in the next election. Bonnie Howard

BLESS all of you who are doing what you can to help! It would seem to me that an ARMY of volunteers is needed to help those who have lost so much in this disaster to get through the procedures and paperwork that they face. People who are experienced in the fields of Law. paralegals, insurance, secretaries etc have skills that could help ! Kind caring sensitive people who have some expertise. On a person's BEST DAY this would be a daunting and challenging task but these are traumatized people! Many are in a state of shock! And who wouldn't be! Can anyone suggest or organize such assistance? That and some HOT SOUP!! I am clear across the country and so can only send my thoughts and my prayers. God Bless you all and I pray that help is on the way! Giggy
