First Snowfall Blankets Babylon Village

Nor'easter brings cold winds, frozen precipitation to area still recovering from Hurricane Sandy.

Despite up to four inches of snow blanketing Babylon Village and West Babylon students headed off to class Thursday morning and most folks ventured out to work.

With the nor’easter, which the Weather Channel named Winter Storm Athena, bringing strong winds and wet heavy snow to the area. The number of power outages in West Babylon grew to 2,668, according to LIPA’s website Thursday morning. Babylon Village fared better in the storm with 667 outages.

Weather conditions are forecast to greatly improve over the next couple days.

According to Weather.com, the forecast for the area is for sunny skies Friday through Monday with temperatures rising into the low 60s by the start of next week.
