We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. Even if you disagree with our picks, let us know. We want to hear from you!

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Why Go: Parents and children can visit the farm, learn, read and explore. Siblings are welcome on Thursdays and Fridays.

Pricing: $10 per class/first child. Siblings $5. Under 12 mos. are free.

Why Go: A fun songs and stories program for children 6-23 months accompanied by an adult.

Pricing: Free for library cardholders.

Why Go: There are several programs for children, ranging from 6 months to 5 years of age. All classes focus on exercise, movement, strength and mobility.

Pricing: Trial class is free.

Why Go: Beat the weekend crowds and surprise your kids with a school night out. Now Playing, the adorable G rated film, Gnomeo and Juliet.

Pricing: Adults: $14.25, Children: $11.75, Seniors: $12.50.
