Introducing the New Babylon Village Patch Editor

Scott P. Moore is looking for restaurant tips, breaking news and historical facts.

Hello, Babylon Village – I would like to introduce myself.

I'm Scott P. Moore, and I am the new editor of the Babylon Village Patch.

I was born and raised in nearby Lindenhurst, but spent much of my time growing up in Babylon Village visiting the various storefronts, watching a movie at the cinema, fishing down by the docks and eating at our village's numerous restaurants.

My Previous Experience

I have been professionally reporting for just over a year now. I started last May freelancing for various Patch websites before landing a staff reporter position at The South Shore Standard, a weekly newspaper in The Five Towns in southwest Nassau County, last June. Before this, I was a student at Stony Brook University here on Long Island where I graduated last May with bachelor's in history and journalism and worked as the Managing Editor of an online student news organization, Stony Brook Independent.

When I'm Not Working, You Might Find Me...

  • At a baseball game. I am a baseball fanatic and often try to attend games, whether they are high school level, minor league or majors, I make it a summer goal every year to attend at least 15 games. When I'm not watching, I'm playing and can be found at nearby batting cages or playing a pickup game at the park.
  • Traveling. Travel is in my blood and I readily enjoy long road trips or flying off to new places. Part of this includes my love for adventure and exploring, even in areas of Long Island I know like the back of my hand.
  • Searching for the Perfect Pizza Slice. I'm a true New Yorker – I've had pizza in other areas of the country and nothing comes close to a New York City or Long Island slice. That said though, I am on an endless pursuit of finding the perfect slice of pizza that combines thick cheeses and a rich sauce into the mother of all grandmother pizzas.
  • Forecasting. I call myself an amateur meterologist, in addition to my interests in history, local news and sports, and will often incorperate this into my stories since the weather affects every bit of your day from where you go to what you wear. I love a good mid-summer thunderstorm and cannot wait for the first snowflakes to fall during the summer.

Help me make Babylon Village Patch your one-stop source for the community.

I am always open to any news tips, rumors, feedback or everyday conversation with just about anyone. If you would like to send me an email, I can be reached at Scottp.Moore@patch.com or by phone at (631) 921-5482.
