Landscaping After Hurricane Sandy Event This Sat.

Local church and garden club bringing in experts to improve your green thumb after Sandy.

Babylon Village's homes took a beating from Hurricane Sandy whether it was from wind or flooding damage, but residents have been hard at work getting their houses back to livability.

One of the forgotten parts of the home, however, will begin to show the effects of the hurricane this season – the landscaping and plant life around the home.

Experts will be speaking in Babylon Village this Sat., May 4 at the Christ Episcopal Church in to speak to residents looking to fix and care for their landscapes after the hurricane's waters ravaged them in October.

The experts expected at the event, sponsored by the church and Sumpwams Garden Club, include Dr. Tamson Yeh, a turfgrass and land management specialist at Cornell University; Loretta Donnelly, master gardener and container plant expert, and members of the Sumpwams Garden Club.

To register for the event, which kicks off at 9 a.m., call the Christ Episcopal Church at (631) 661-5757 or email christchurchbny@optonline.net.
