Local Boy Scouts Obtain Various Honors

Babylon's Troop 1 earned many honors of distinction during the past year.

Boy Scout Troop 1 recently completed its Scouting Year with a Court of Honor on June 6, with many scouts earning new honors to close out the year. 

The Court of Honor recognized three new Tenderfoot Scouts – Patrick G., Peter G., and Luke H., three new Second Class Scouts – Thomas I., Rasheed A., and Nicholas M., one new First Class Scout – Robert G. and four new Life Scouts – Jose P., Hollis H, Sean M,. and Dominic F.

Three Scouts were also singled out for special recognition.  

Robert G. was selected for the Mr. Arnold Leonard Award for the most advancement in the Scouting Year and Sean M. and Timothy M. were co-selected for the Mr. Walter Haff Memorial Award for the best participation in the troop activities throughout the year.

Over the past year, the troop, chartered to Babylon United Methodist Church, spent 24 days in the woods associated with camping, hiked almost 50 miles of trails, and conducted 15 hours of service to the community which included a major clean up of Southard's Pond.
