Mosquito Spraying Set For Tuesday

Suffolk will spray near Robert Moses State Park in an effort to control mosquito larvae.

Two areas just to the south of Babylon Village will be the sites of aerial spraying in an effort to control mosquito larvae.

The Suffolk County Department of Public Works’ Division of Vector Control will treat Robert Moses Coast Guard Station and Clam Pond on Tuesday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Officials will treat the area with a low altitude, large droplet liquid application of Altosid liquid concentrate.

The products used by Vector Control are registered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and are applied in accordance with the required state and federal permits.

Officials said no precautions are recommended to prepare for this spraying, as the helicopter will be flying at a very low level over marsh areas. Human exposure from this operation is unlikely and the products have no significant human toxicity.
