Neighbors Supporting Neighbors' Celebration a Success

Support group celebrated the year after the storm with food, music and costumes.

The Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Babylon Strength After Sandy Celebration went off without a hitch on Saturday, bringing hundreds down to what had been a devastated area this day last year.

Walking around Fred Shores Beach Club, most might not have been able to tell a hurricane slammed ashore in the community a few days removed from a year – party music thumping, barbecued foods being cooked and eaten and costumed children running around picking pumpkins off of the beach.

The celebration included free raffles, fun for the kids and a Halloween parade – allowing many who were forced to skip the holiday last year in light of much scarier events to enjoy their costumed escapades at the seashore.

Mayor Ralph Scordino, Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer and others were among those to show up and congratulate residents on toughing out one of the hardest years in memory.

Above, we have featured some of the shots from the festival and the Halloween Parade held on Saturday.
