New Argyle Lake Tree Dedicated in Memory of PO Arthur Lopez

Tree and plaque installed one-year to the day Lopez was killed by a suspect.

A freshly planted tree at Argyle Lake Park has been dedicated to the memory of Nassau County Police Officer Arthur Lopez, who was killed last year in the line of duty.

Officer Lopez, a Babylon Village resident, was shot and killed by a fleeing suspect during a chase on October 23, 2012 in Bellerose Terrace, Queens.

The new tree and memorial plaque at its base reads: "In loving memory of Nassau County Emergency Service Police Officer Arthur Lopez, End of Watch October 23, 2012."

The tree was planted on the west side of the landmark waterfalls at the park, just across the street from where Lopez has his boat parked up until that day last year.
