PHOTOS: Sandy Blasts Through Babylon Village

Hurricane Sandy left tons of damage in her wake, including submerged parts of the village.

Hurricane Sandy has come and gone, but her effects are going to be felt for a long time throughout the Babylon Village area.

Much of the area that was evacuated by town and village orders, south of Main Street, was inndated with vast amounts of water even up to this afternoon. Water levels reached three feet some six-to-eight streets from the shore and homes closer to the water were reportedly in worse shape.

Wally Levins, Vice President of the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce, told Patch this morning the business district, which did not sustain major structural damage throughout the Deer Park Avenue area, would still be closed for a few days with power only reaching the northern parts of the village.
