Annual ceremony held at the Town's 9/11 Memorial.

To mark the 12th anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 attacks, the Town of Babylon and the Town of Babylon Fire Chiefs Association hosted a remembrance ceremony at the Town’s 9/11 Memorial, located in between Cedar and Overlook beaches on Ocean Parkway on Wednesday evening.

At the ceremony, a list of the names of those from the area who died that day was read. Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer delivered the opening remarks.

“Forty eight Babylon residents lost their lives that fateful day and this community will never forget them,” Schaffer said. “We lean on each other, we pray for the victims' families, and we give thanks for the heroes of that day, as well as the heroes that still protect us, from our local firehouse to our armed forces abroad.  As remember 9/11, we stand united as a community, and as a country, stronger and more resilient than ever.”
