The annual SantaCon, short for Santa Claus Convention, is known for its stops in major cities like New York, Dallas and Chicago, but in 2012, the "running of the Santas" made a stop in Babylon Village.
Local photographer Bruce of Babylon Village Photos sent in these great shots of some festive people headed to the local bars to par take in the annual holiday fun.
In New York City, SantaCon comes as annual bar-crawl-like celebration with men and women decked from head to toe in Santa or elf-gear. Often, many donate money to the Marines' Toys for Tots program in an effort to spread more holiday cheer.
"In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy many people are without basic things such as food. So we decided to spin off the Santacon in NYC and bring it to Babylon. Everyone in attendance MUST bring at least two non-pershible food items to the starting location then we will donate it to the food pantry in the Methodist Church in Babylon. This is a good way to help out our community and have a good time."
