Season's First Snow Lightly Coats Parts of Babylon Village

Snow comes down like a blizzard, but leaves behind little in accumulation.

Long Island got a bit of a surprise this morning as snowflakes flew like it was February and not the middle of November, leaving behind a thin, slushy coat of the white stuff.

Snow began falling island-wide around 7 a.m. mixing in with rain associated with a powerful, cold arctic front pushing across the northeast. As temperatures plummeted from the 50's to the lower 30's, rain showers began mixing over to snow during the morning.

Much the wind driven snow melted upon impact with a still warm ground, but some found its way onto cooler surfaces, like cars, grass and even some rooftops.

The snow tapered off right around 10:30 a.m. as the front entirely pushed its way through, but not before Patch caught some beautiful photos from throughout the area.
