Suit: Strippers Performed at W. Babylon Nursing Home

The website of West Babylon's East Neck Nursing and Rehabilitation Center says its patients get the chance to have some fun and enjoy new things.

It does not, however, mention strippers.

The New York Post reported Tuesday that the nursing home faces a lawsuit from the family of an 85-year-old resident, who can be seen in a photo stuffing dollar bills into a male stripper's underwear at the nursing home, which is located at 134 Great East Neck Road.

The son of resident Bernice Youngblood, Franklin Youngblood, found the photo when he visited his mother in January, but when he confronted staff at the nursing home, the suit states a nurse lunged at him and tried to snatch the picture away.

The suit also claims that hiring male strippers to perform for residents at the nursing home was a "serial occurrence."

"This woman has spent her whole life living in dignity and now has been disgraced and offended by all of this,” an attorney for Bernice Youngblood told NBC 4 New York.

The suit states that Youngblood, who is confined to a wheelchair, suffers from multiple disabilities, including Alzheimer's and advanced dementia. While sometimes lucid, the suit says Youngblood "lacks the mental and physical capacity to competently, intelligently, knowingly, and voluntarily care for and protect herself."

An attorney for the nursing home told Newsday a committee of residents voted unanimously for a male stripper to come in to entertain them in September 2012.
