The Week Ahead: What Not to Miss

Winter sports kick off and the chamber's Old Fashioned Shopping Christmas is this Friday night.

This week is a busy one, so get your calendar out and make sure you don't miss what's happening this week in Babylon Village.

First up, the varsity boys bowling team takes on Comsewogue Tuesday at Comsewogue's home lanes in Port Jefferson Station. The action starts at 3:35 p.m.

Then it's time to head over to the Babylon Public Library for a holiday painting demonstration starting at 6:30 p.m. in the community room Tuesday night. Using acrylics on canvas, Christine Weyer will show  attendees how to create a delightful holiday landscape. Program cost is $3.

Also on Tuesday night, the  Suffolk County Police Department First Precinct will hold its monthly community meeting at 7 p.m. at the precinct. For more information call 854-8100 .

Wednesday, get into comfy wear and pull out your yoga mat for the first of a five-week Yogalates class that starts at 10 a.m. at the Babylon Public Library. Yogalates combines yoga with pilates. The program will be held in the community room and cost $20.

The Babylon Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament kicks off at the junior-senior high school on Wednesday night, with the squad first taking on Rocky Point  at 5 p.m. The second game is at 7 p.m.

The Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce presents its annual Old Fashioned Village Christmas event Friday, December 3 starting at 5 p.m until 9 p.m. Visit with Santa from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 pm as he rides through the village on a horse-drawn carriage. Enjoy lots of holiday treats and entertainment courtesy of your local merchants. There is free parking in the village for the holiday season.
