Village Viewfinder: Old Glory Braves the Wind
A flag, worn a bit, continues to be a beacon of hope in Fred Shores.
As the sun continues shining over Babylon Village and the warm weather builds back in for what looks to be a nice summer, it sometimes slips the mind the devestation Sandy brought a short time ago.
Local photographer Flo Siemsen ("Flo of Pictures!") posted this photo of our nation's flag waving fiercely against the winds on Little East Neck Road South on March 19.
"Someone put this up for the people who were affected by Hurricane Sandy and yes, people are still recovering even now," Siemsen wrote. "I look at it as 'We may be tattered but we are still standing strong!' Strong Island!!"
