W. Babylon Docks Rebuilt and Reopened
Waterfront docks at end of Bergen Drive were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
In the six months since Hurricane Sandy slammed ashore near Long Island, communities here have seen the change from cleanup to rebuilding. In West Babylon, some of the changes have finally been completed.
The Town of Babylon completed the reconstruction of the West Babylon docks at Bergen Point, producing a beautiful long, wooden area for residents to relax, fish and take in the views of the Great South Bay.
The original docks were heavily damaged in 2011 by Tropical Storm Irene and again in October by Hurricane Sandy's huge storm surge. The town has been rebuilding the docks eve since.
