Wednesday's Post-Sandy Clean-Up Weather

Good morning, Long Island – here's the forecast for your Wednesday post-Sandy Patch Forecast, via the National Weather Service.

Daytime

Unlike Tuesday morning where flood waters had not receded at all, we can expect most of the surge to head back down to the Great South Bay. Tides are looking to be about 1 to 2 feet above normal, but nowhere near the 6 to 12 feet we faced on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of showers throughout the day, just like yesterday, and should be weak and short-lived in nature. Winds will be only around 10 mph and expected highs on the south shore of Long Island will be cooler again as a cold front that sucked in Sandy pushes in – expect 60° at the high.

Evening

With many areas without power, grab some blankets for the evening as the cooler air rushes in. You can really feel it if you have a window open in your home with the night's low around 44° on the South Shore. A chance for showers will continue, but will still be very light and more of a nuisance than problem.

Tides, again, are expected to continue to lessen as the low-pressure of Sandy all but disappears from our area. Except the high and low tides to be very slightly above the normal heights for this time of year.
