Weekend Planner: Beach Cleanup, High School Football

The wonderful weather continues into the weekend, but the rain will make an appearance.

Patch Forecast – The Town of Babylon's glorious stretch of weather will continue into the weekend with highs starting in the upper 70s on Friday and in the lower 70s by Sunday. The blue skies will leave us for about 24 hours later Friday evening into Saturday with some rain passing through. Skies will turn blue again though by Sunday morning.

Friday

The Babylon Town Chamber of Commerce will hold its at 7 a.m. at the Olympic Diner in Deer Park. $10 to attend.

Babylon High School's Panthers (1-0) will play another varsity football game under the Friday Night Lights away from home though against rival Elwood-Glenn at 7 p.m.  (0-1) will play their second straight home game against Eastport/South Manor at 6 p.m.

North Babylon Public Library will be holding a free showing of the movie  staring Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling at 1 p.m. The event is free, so bring your popcorn and enjoy!

Saturday

There will be an all-volunteer  on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Free gloves and bags will be available to all volunteers.

The Deer Park Fire Department will hold a . The ceremony will take place on the fire department's front lawn starting at 11 a.m.

Get out and enjoy the open air for a Fall Harvest and Seafood Festival at Capree Tree State Park. This family-oriented and nautical-themed festival will feature an interactive pirate show, scavenger hunt, boat rides, local farm products and much more – the event starts at 11 a.m. and is free.

Forgotten Friends of Long Island will be hosting a Auction Extravaganza on Saturday, September 15th at 6 p.m. The Forgotten Friends is a program that rescues and rehabilitates the needienst cats and dogs on the island. There will be Chinese Auction, Live Auction and a Silent Auction.

North Babylon Football will head into battle against Centereach at home at 2 p.m.!

Sunday

 continues to run at its location on the north parking lot of the Babylon LIRR. The market opens at 8 a.m. with the best organic foods, local milks and bread, cheese, wine and even beer.
