Weekend Planner: High School Football, Pet Adoption Fair

The weekend starts beautiful, but goes downhill as Hurricane Sandy approaches the area.

Patch Forecast – Friday starts out a nice weekend day, with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 67°. Saturday and Sunday, however, will have an increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms, especially later as Hurricane Sandy approaches the area and outer bands wrap into the area. Expect highs in the mid-60s those days and be prepared!

Friday

Head out to the West Babylon Public Library for a free screening of the Disneynature film Chimpanzee for free! The film, rated G, starts at 1 p.m.

The Babylon Panthers (7-0) will head out to Center Moriches (1-6) for their final regular season game of the year. The Panthers will put their perfect record on the line for sole possession of first place in Division IV at 6 p.m.

Head out the Babylon Bean Coffee House to get some real jams – "For Real Music" Fridays are on starting at 8 p.m. with J.P. Noonan taking your requests all night long. Don't forget to have your tarot cards read while there – the beautiful psychic Marie will be telling your future while the music plays.

Saturday

The Town of Babylon's Farmer's Market will be held at the parking lot at Oak Street and Great Neck Road in Copiague starting at 8 a.m. Join the fun for all the local grower's freshest produce!

The funeral for Officer Arthur "Artie" Lopez will be held in Merrick at St. Christopher's Church starting at 12 noon. If you plan on attending, please read up about road closures, expect delays and crowding.

West Babylon Public Library will be hosting a Pet Adoption Fair in the parking lot outside of the library around 12 noon. Also drop by with your own dog or cat and make free Pet Picture Frames starting at noon!

Sunday

Babylon Village will host a Farmer's Market on Sunday outside of Railroad Express Bagels and the LIRR station. The market will feature the best organic food grown from nearby farms – milk, produce, bread, chesse, wine, beers, baked goods, dips, jams and all items are certified to be organic. The market kicks off at 8:00 a.m.!
