Weekend Planner: Optimism Walk, Blessing of Animals

A fun weekend of events heads in as cooler, Fall-like temperatures finally make an appearance.

Patch Forecast – This weekend will be one of ups and downs. The ups? Friday – a beautiful day after early morning fog with highs feeling like its summer around 80° again. The downs? Rain moves back into the area Saturday into Sunday. Temperatures will dip from 78° on Saturday to only 59° on Sunday.

Friday

The Fit Factory will open it's doors to the public starting on Friday. Come check out $5.00 classes all month long including zumba, cardio fusion, kickboxing, pilates, yoga and pole fitness. More information can be found at their Facebook page.

Adventureland in Farmingdale will host Scout Night where all scouts and their friends and families are welcome to the park. A portion of the $25.00 donation of each ticket sold will go towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation starting at 6 p.m.

Saturday

The American Parkinson Disease Association presents their annual Optimisim Walk and Paws event at Belmont State Park. Registration starts at 10 a.m., and the walk starts at 11 a.m. – join with or without a dog! You can organize a team or walk as an individual around the 1.3 mile trail around the lake. There will be a dog costume contest, raffles, refreshments, a chinese auction, giveaways and more.

The Babylon Panthers Varsity Football team will take on Bayport-Blue Point away from home starting at 1:30 p.m. Head out and support your local teams!

Bartini will be hosting a night of music in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Sunday

Babylon Village will host a Farmer's Market on Sunday outside of Railroad Express Bagels and the LIRR station. The market will feature the best organic food grown from nearby farms – milk, produce, bread, chesse, wine, beers, baked goods, dips, jams and all items are certified to be organic. The market kicks off at 8 a.m.!

Christ Episcopal Church invites all to come with their pets to have them blessed at its annual Blessing of the Animals on the front lawn of the church. Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held indoors.
