Weekend Planner: Playoff Football, Volunteer Efforts

A calmer weekend is ahead with much nicer, warmer weather after a strange two weeks meteorologically.

Patch Forecast – What a turnaround from the past two weeks we will see. Friday will bring warmer and sunnier skies than the last two days, with highs in the 50s. Similar weather is on tap for Saturday, but Sunday will make or break the weekend with an expected high of 62° and sunny skies to boot. The weather should be nice through next week – a welcome break from the cool and cloudy post-Sandy forecast.

Playoff Football returns to Babylon Village this weekend as the Babylon Panthers take on East Hampton High School in the first round of the 2012 Suffolk County Division IV playoffs. The Panthers will put their 8-0 perfect record to the test in front of a home crowd on Saturday at 1 p.m. Come out and enjoy some free entertainment!

Pandemonium Boutique is offering some retail therapy for the next weekend with a sale at the store. The clothing retailer is also opening up for free hot chocolate, coffee, tea, hot cider, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a warm place to charge your phone up. Check it out daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

St. Joseph's Church will also be available for hurricane victims and those left in the dark as a place to warm up, charge up and pick up supplies throughout the weekend from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; Similarly, First Presbyterian Church is also open with tons of supplies and clothing to hand out. They will be open Friday 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and weekend 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Century 21 Adams Real Estate and American Legion Post 94 are acting as drop-off and pick-up points for supplies. While clothing and food products are in abundance, much needed items continue to be cleaning supplies. Century 21 is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the American Legion will open at different times – check our Facebook for more details.

Inkredible Ink is offering up its retail space to anyone needed to file insurance claims from Hurricane Sandy. Head on over daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to use the Internet, print or fax any papers you need to.

Have some fun with Girls Night Out at Positions Dance Studio on Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. For $5, learn how some country line dancing and don't forget to wear country-themed items (cowboy boots are welcomed).

And as it has been all summer longer, the Babylon Village Farmers Market will take place at its usual spot in the north LIRR Parking Lot on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. Get the freshest produce, and, now in the Fall season, be on the lookout for apple ciders, pumpkin pies and all your other favorite treats!
