Weekend Planner: Snapper Derby, Sidewalk Sale

Patch Forecast – The weekend will continue the recent trend of pristine end-of-summer weather with Friday and Saturday both checking in around Babylon Village, North Babylon and Deer Park with highs around 83° and mostly sunny conditions. Sunday will show a bit of a change with the possibility of thunderstorms, although only a 20% chance there, with a high of 81°.

Friday

The Village of Babylon continues its Summer Concert Series at The Gazebo across from Argyle Park as Union Jazz Coalition takes the stage to perform some great music. The event is free and starts at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday

Register for a  in Babylon Village. The course will take from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and cost $60, but eliminates multiday training. The course takes place at 281 Phelps Lane.

The annual , presented by the Babylon Tuna Club, will take place at the Babylon Docks starting at 9:00 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to take part in this free event, which includes fishing, prizes and food!

American Legion in West Babylon will be hosting a Blood Drive in honor of Charles "Chip" Pannhorst starting at 9:00 a.m. The American Red Cross will be on hand to take blood donations; remember, blood saves lives!

 will host an  full of free demo classes starting at 10:00 a.m. Come try out everything from ballet to break dancing for free. Like the class? Sign up on Saturday and the studio will waive the registration fee!

The Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce will host another great event – The Super Sidewalk Sale – starting at 10:00 a.m. Most stores throughout the village will be selling from the sidewalk during the beautiful day and offering amazing savings and discounts. Come out and enjoy our village!

The Town of Babylon will host its annual  at Overlook Beach starting at 3:00 p.m. The free event will include contests, games, rides, Ice Cream Eating Contests, music and a fireworks shoe. Free parking available to residents with recreational permits!

Tanger Outlets at The Arches will be hosting its second-to-last concert in its Summer Concert Series. Come check out Pulse in their second performance this summer starting at 6:00 p.m. for free!

Sunday

Babylon Village will host a  on Sunday outside of Railroad Express Bagels and the LIRR station. The market will feature the best organic food grown from nearby farms – milk, produce, bread, chesse, wine, beers, baked goods, dips, jams and all items are certified to be organic. The market kicks off at 8:00 a.m.!

The Deer Park Community Center will host  for ages 13 and up for free at 5:00 p.m.! Call the community center ahead, wear some light clothing and register to learn how to defend yourself using martial arts.
