What Would You Improve in Babylon in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Babylon, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Babylon Village to make it an even better place to live?

What is on your Babylon Village wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here!

I would enforce more of the laws that are in effect - for example, there is no overnight parking - my development looks like a used car lot - all of the time. I can understand when guests are over or a party is being held - but when the house is dark, there is no party going on and there should be no cars parked on the street - PERIOD!!! I, personally, almost got hit by an oncoming car because there were cars parked on both sides of the street and no where to go - streets are for driving, not parking.

update the signs for parking.eg. headin parking only signs that are not placed in a visable spot where a commuter can see them. Its only after you get a ticket that attention is brought to you. In general , the obvious ticketing of cars for the coffers of the village. Im really starting to believe that it is a form of entrapment. The signs should be placed at the meters when you go to pay, this way all can see them

1) More enforcement. Is much needed against speeders throughout the village. 2) The garbage men are great but a few of them need to be watched. Look around after Monday pick up and the cans are thrown all over andthe amount of garbage that is all over our roads is inexcusable.

Enforce the parking laws-including the 2 hour limit and cars parked in the wrong direction-this goes on in all residential areas. Have SC Police Department enforce speeding violations and ignoring stop signs

1. Crosswalk for pedestrians, bikers, and strollers crossing Trolley Line Ave. from the path under the LIRR to Argyle Lake...and maybe a speed bump before it for cars, because from Litchfield to the Babylon JH/HS, it's a drag strip most. 2. The intersection at the corner of the Babylon JH/HS is very frustrating to navigate at times due to the right of way southbound N. Carll Ave. cars which know they don't have to yield at all and highly exploit that advantage. Why? Can we shrink the intersection a little, create a four-way stop, or anything other than the way it is now?

Both of Paul,s comments need attention. On our street in the village which many use for a cut thru, you can always find someone going way over the speed limit (40 - 50MPH) And stop signs don't seem to repsected at all. In the village itself why are som many people runnin the light at Main & DPA without any regard to the safety of others or the law? How about U-turns in the Village at the most unsafe spots. And when is it last time you saw any ticketing except for parking violations. The traffic infractions go unquestioned even in the presence of Police ....

To add to my comments above, I for one am tired of being pushed down Park Ave in a school zone when I am trying to maintain 20 MPH. Then even at 35 MPH (5 over the limit) someone will always be on your bumper. Where are the police?
