#84: It's Time to Get Crafty for Fall

This week's installment of what to do in Babylon finds ways for kids to get hands-on at the Babylon Library.

Kids love making stuff, the messier the better, so why not outsource the cleanup and preparation and take advantage of several craft and cooking sessions this fall at the Babylon Public Library?

In October and November the children's room will host baking, crafts and face-painting events for preschoolers and elementary schoolers.

Halloween treats are on the menu, with Saturday afternoon cupcake making planned for the school-aged kids. On October 29 at 1:30 p.m., kindergarteners through second-graders can make spider web cookies with a baking coach, who will also help third, fourth, and fifth graders make witch broom cupcakes at 3 p.m.

On Halloween itself, a craft is slated for 1 p.m., for children ages three, four and five not yet in kindergarten. Come in costume and stay for a parade in the library. Older kids can stop by after school to get their faces painted before they head out to trick-or-treat.

Then get ready for Thanksgiving with an activity for the entire family. On Monday, November 14 and Thursday, November 17 at 7 p.m. the baking coach will instruct kids ages 3 through fifth grade and their families how to make a chocolate cornucopia table centerpiece. You might want to have a backup centerpiece in mind, as edible chocolate art sounds likes its designed not to last.
