Arts Showcase Highlights Local Artistic Talent

Annual Babylon Village Arts Council "Art by the Falls" showcased a range of local artists with different styles and viewpoints.

Babylon Village Arts Council sponsored its fourth annual outdoor show at Arglye Park this past Sunday, and 15 artists, ranging from aerial photographers to student painters, showed their work.

Rose Ann Norman, co-president of the council, said the show continues to grow each year and she was proud to report "we had a lot of people this year attend the show."

Three Babylon high school students, Gabrielle Simone, Kelsey Laing and Ryan Hart, displayed work created under the Art Partnership Program, an educational BVAC initiative to provide supplies and funding to fledgling artists.

The Babylon Village Youth Project sponsored a photo contest, and all entries from Youth Project members were on display.

Many artists reported making sales, and Evan Reinheimer, a Babylon photographer, perhaps summed up an even bigger motivation for the artists to participate in community art shows.
