BVAC Indie Film Fest Tonight

The first-ever independent film festival kicks off this evening with a documentary about the economic crash of 2007-2010.

Tomorrow night marks the first-ever indie film festival in the village courtesy of the Babylon Village Arts Council. Up first in the free series is the Academy Award Winning documentary on the financial crisis directed by Charles H. Ferguson.

The film, Inside Job, will hit the screen at 7 p.m. at the Babylon Library. But don't miss the first event of the evening: a film talk with Dylan Skolnick of the Cinema Arts Centre of Huntington at 6:30 p.m.

The idea for the series, made possible through Suffolk County funding and the support of Legislator Wayne Horsley, was the brainchild of BVAC Vice President Jack Finkenberg, said BVAC Co-President Rose Norman.

“Most indie films are screened in theaters on the north shore and the BVAC's mission is bringing cultural arts to the community,” explained Norman. “So what better manner than to screen indie films in the village. We are hoping for a sizable turnout and plan on three more films in the upcoming months,” she said.

The library is located at 24 S Carll Ave, Babylon. For more information call 669-1810.
