Positions Dance Studio Performs Peter and the Wolf

Dancers performed free show at Babylon Public Library on Sunday afternoon.

A packed house at the Babylon Public Library got a real treat on Sunday afternoon as Positions Dance Studio's dancers put on a performance of "Peter and the Wolf."

The children's story, written in 1936 by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, follows the plot of a young pioneer and his forest friends capturing an evil wolf.

The dancers performed for an audience of roughly 50 people for free during the afternoon at the library. Studio owner Kelly Peckholdt also gave a short introduction to ballet during an intermission, after which the performers danced in short solo pieces before the crowd.

The cast, in alphabetical order, included Amanda Crowley as "The Cat," Alexandra Doherty as "The Duck," Ryan Doherty as "The Grandfather," Emily Flaherty as "The Bird," Julia Forstner as "The Wolf," Natalie Habb as "Peter," and Lily Jette as "The Duckling."

The group will perform "Peter and the Wolf" again on May 11 at the BACCA Arts Center.
