Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Effect for Babylon, W. Babylon

Warning in effect until 5:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Western Suffolk County, including Babylon Village and West Babylon, until 5:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon as a line of storms rolls through.

Radars showed a well-formed line of thunderstorms, some strong and severe, heading into the tri-state area. The line extending from upstate New York to New Jersey is expected to push through Western Suffolk within the next hour.

The National Weather Service advises the storms will pack heavy rains, strong winds that could gust up to 60 mph, and even the possibility of quarter-sized hail in our area.

The warning issued advises residents move indoors immediately to avoid any potential fatal lightning strikes within the next hour.
