A.G.'s Cupcakery Expanding Into Next-Door Space

Cupcake bakery will take over former MetroPCS store.

A.G.'s Cupcakery and Coffee Bar is taking the next step – expanding the popular business into the next-door space, opening possibilities for the bakery to hold parties.

Owner Garrison Gross spoke before the Babylon Village Board of Trustees on July 9 at a public hearing, stating his intentions to acquire the next-door space formerly held by MetroPCS and use it as a party hall for the bakery.

"The store next to us would be used to children’s parties, craft parties and the like," Gross told the board. "The storage room in the plans will be used for more storage for us and the back bathroom is wheelchair accessible, which fits right in to the plans as is."

The question of whether the dividing wall between the two spaces would be removed came up, but Gross said he had no intentions of pulling it down – at least, right now.

"We’re not going to remove the wall; we're leaving it as separate for maybe six months or a year," he said. "We'll see where we're at and come back."

According to Gross, the party room was a popular request among visitors to the cupcakery, many of which wanted to host their children's birthday parties there.

"It was a popular request from the customers. They were disappointed we had no place to do this," he said.

Gross said the business would look into hosting additional events in the party hall, including classes and craft parties.

The board initially reserved decision during the hearing, but approved the expansion plans during the regular board meeting later that evening.

The original storefront, operated as a MetroPCS dealer, closed earlier this year rather abruptly and left a new vacancy in Babylon Village.

Now comes the hard part for the bakery, Gross joked on their Facebook page – naming the new business.
