Babylon Shoe Store Holding Fundraiser for Boston Marathon Victims

Shoes I Love is offering 25 percent off to customers with 5 percent of each sale going to the Richard family in Boston.

Shoes I Love, which has a store in Babylon Village, is holding a fundraiser  Wednesday for a family that was devastated in the Boston Marathon bombings.

The event is taking place at all three Shoes I Love locations–in Bayside, Queens, Oceanside and the Babylon store located at 216-18 Deer Park Avenue–from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The stores will offer a 30 percent discount on all items, with 25 percent off for customers and the other 5 percent going to the Richard family in Boston.

Eight-year-old Martin Richard was one of three people killed in the marathon bombings. Jane Richard, 7, lost part of her leg in the attacks and both Richard parents were also seriously injured.

Robert Yeganeh, a buyer and creative director for Shoes I Love, said the bombings hit home for him as he has a 7-year-old son.

Yegnaneh said Wednesday's event is a good way for women to stock up on summer shoes while also giving back.

There will be giveaways and light refreshments will be served with Argyle Grill providing food at the Babylon store, Yegnaneh said.

Purchases made online between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Wednesday at The Shoes I Love website will also have 5 percent of the sale donated to the Richard family.
