Big Nipper Returns to Main Street

The icon of Plessers Appliance is back after some much needed grooming.

Guess who's back on Main Street once again, guarding the front door to Plessers Appliance and welcoming customers?

Yes, it's the Giant Nipper. The former mascot of the RCA Victrolla company, who made his initial debut back in the 1950s as part of an RCA sales promotion, spent some needed time at a special grooming location getting buffed with new fiberglass and getting a little winter rest before making it back just in time for this weekend's Argyle Fair activities.

He first debuted at Plessers in 2010 after Vice President Alan Howard found the the six-foot Nipper on eBAY and thought it would be a great conversation piece and attention getter.

"The Plessers dog, as he is now known, has been on many websites, Facebook pages and is featured in a list of Long Island roadside attractions," noted Howard, who is grateful to his friend Bob Pitagno who took time out of a busy schedule to do the needed grooming.

"Stop by and and check him out," said Howard.
