Biz Beat: Fundraiser This Weekend at Local Restaurant

Local restaurant and bar Horace & Sylvia's will host a fundraiser for an injured employee.

The Business Beat, or Biz Beat for short, is a new column here at Babylon Village Patchdedicated to highlighting big sales or business announcements from every shop in Babylon Village and West Babylon.

Fundraiser Being Held at Horace & Sylvia's

, the well-known restaurant and bar in the heart of Babylon Village, will be holding a fundraise for an employee that was seriously injured this summer.

Michelle McGlone, a Horace & Sylvia's employee, was seriously injured in a head-on collision with another vehicle on July 19th. She has extensive injuries including multiple fractures and faces a long road to recovery. The restaurant is holding the event to raise money to help her through this time.

The Michelle McGlone Fundraiser will take place on Sunday, September 16th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the restaurant. $45 per person includes beer, wine, rail mixed drinks and food.

Mary Carroll's Joins Babylon Village Arts Council

Mary Carroll's, another local bar and restaurant, has joined the Babylon Village Arts Council as a "Partner in the Arts," according to Rose Ann Norman who posted the announcement on Patch.

"Supporting the arts in Babylon Village helps local businesses," she wrote in.

Looney Tunes Expanding Storefront Again

West Babylon-based music store Looney Tunes will be expanding its storefront at 31 Brookvale Avenue across from the Great South Bay Shopping Center.

The record retailer last overhauled the strefront about five years ago when a fire destroyed much of the old showroom. The store has not released details on exactly what will be expanded – the store already features some of the largest CD and record collections on sale in the nearby area and a performance area for visiting musicians.
