West Islip Home to First New York Gelato Spot
New York Gelato quietly opened its doors last week at the corner of Oak Neck Road, located in the back of Saltwaters Bait & Tackle on Montauk Highway. Just head for the VMA Kemo/Jui Jitsu center at the rear of the tackle building and you’ll see the back door to New York Gelato, or walk to the east side of the bait store to go in the front door.
On a Wednesday evening this week the new frozen dessert and beverage stop was busy, with the customer line sometimes reaching from the big counter display to the front door.
