Construction Begins on Carter's, New GNC Location

New businesses will be slated for openings in late July or August.

Construction and redesign have begun on the interiors of the new location of GNC and new children's clothing store Carter's at the former locations of FYE Music and Movies and Blockbuster Video.

Patch  that Carter's, a children's clothing store well-known for selling Osh Kosh B'Gosh clothing, would be moving into the northern most of the former property operated as FYE Music and Movies until a few years ago. Carter's is currently being redesigned inside with new wall panels for displaying items and is slated for an August grand opening.

GNC will be moving across the Great South Bay Shopping Center to a new home in what used to be half of Blockbuster Video. The redesign looked to be ahead of Carter's, with a layout in place and workers quickly adding the last bits before design teams hit the storefront. GNC has not set a date for the new store to open.

The move of GNC to its new location leaves two giant vacancies within the shopping center – an entire line of four or five stores facing Montauk Highway and the former /Caldor storefront. Both properties have yet to garner potential renters.
