Divine Rhythms Dance Studio Moves to West Islip

Dance studio moves into former elementary school with six rooms.

Divine Rhythms Dance Studio moved to West Islip last month after spending the last ten years in Babylon Village.

The two-floor studio on Cooper Street was one of only two dance studios in the village and featured many of our community's young men and women.

"It is with great pride and pleasure to announce we have confirmed usage of Westbrook Elementary School in West Islip on Higbie Lane and will be expanding into a beautiful facility for September 1st," an announcement on the dance studio's website reads.

The Westbrook Elementary School was closed in June 2012 in a cost-cutting move for the West Islip School District. Divine Rhythms joins The Bridges Academy, Bettinelli's Community Boxing Academy and South Shore Children's Learning Center as tenants of the former school.

Divine Rhythms secured their new dance rooms near the entrance/exit of the front of the school, allowing for privacy for the dancers and their families.

The new location features six dance rooms with full mirrors, sprung floors and ballet barres.

"Our new home will provide us with the ability to offer dance, art classes, theatre and performance art, acro, tumbling, and strength training, as well as a hair and nail salon, a full service kitchen, and plenty of parking for our families," the announcement continued.

The studio is not completely leaving Babylon Village behind though – it's dance supply store, Haley's Dance Closet, remains open on Cooper Street.
